The young woman and her babe who so narrowly escaped death during the storm on Friday night last spent last night in jail and this morning appeared before the Stipendiary Magistrate. She said her name was Margaret Ann McArthur and that her babe was nine months old and that her home was at West Devon, Lot 10 where her mother who is a widow resides. She was poorly clad and her babe was suffering from bronchitis. she was remanded back to jail until tomorrow mornign when she will be sent home. Examiner 24 Jan 1888
