Note
Several sources say that Laughlin and Catherine McLean had a son Alexander who lived in Queen's County, PEI. I have included Alexander because DNA testing showed that I had a distant relationship to one of his descendants that can't be explained otherwise. As well, his death notice said he emigrated from Mull the same year as Laughlin and Catherine.

Another newspaper obit said he emigrated in 1805.
Alexander McLean and Anne McKinnon, both of Prince Town, were married by license on April 1 1818 at St. Paul's Church of England in Charlottetown. They lived in North River, PEI. There were four sons in the PEI Baptismal Index for them. An unpublished family history named 8 children: Hannah, Neil, Neil (2nd), Sarah, Roderick, Flora, Margaret and Laughlin. All of the daughters died young, three of them in a tragic fire.
The book History and Stories of Clyde River noted that two McLeans came to Lot 31 around 1808 - Charles, who married Catherine McKinnon, and James McLean.
