On Wednesday last Mrs. RAMSAY of Shediac (West. Co.) committed suicide by hanging. She was the daughter of James FRASER formerly a soldier at Richibucto, but at present a resident of Nova Scotia. Her husband had been a stage driver on the North Shore, subsequently a bar-keeper at King's Hotel, Moncton and recently resided at Shediac. The unfortunate woman had been insane for some time, and for awhile was confined to the Lunatic Asylum. It appears that she had entertained the idea of destroying her two children, but as she was closely watched, she did not find the sought for opportunity. It was 12 o'clock at night when she left her house to make away with herself. The hanging took place in Deacon's Woods and the cotton referred to as having been used was a pillow slip. (see original)
