Note

According to his death record, and the record for his second marriage, James was the son of Joseph Gass and Sarah Taylor. It seems possible that his name was James Taylor Gass.

He married Mary Jane Dyment in 1875. They were living together in the 1911 census.

After Mary Jane's death, James Gass, Appin Road, married Ella May (Wadman) Graves of Crapaud and Green Bay on October 20, 1920 at the Parsonage, Trinity Methodist in Charlottetown. They were in the 1921 census:

Church record says James T Gass, Appin Road,age 67 October 25 1921, suicide by hanging. His body was removed to Crapaud for burial.

In Memoriam, James T. Gass. the people of Appin Road and vicinity were saddened on the morning of October the 25th when it became known that James T. Gass had suddenly passed away for though in his sixty seventh year he had enjoyed good health till quite previous to his demise.
