Still working on the McFadyens- some of the connections I've made are assumptions! The name McFadyen is linked to the Islands of Mull and Coll in Scotland. The name appears as MacPhaiden, McFadzean, MacFadyen, McFadden, MacFadden, McPatton, McFadgeon, McFadern, McFayden etc. According to one source, they backed the wrong candidate to be King of Scotland, and lost Mull to the McLeans, Hector and Laughlin.

John McFadyen emigrated from Mull, Argyleshire, Scotland in 1808 and settled in the Clyde River area, according to an article in the Charlottetown Guardian, written on the occasion of his descendant Hector McFadyen's 100th birthday. "Hector McFadyen was born January 1, 1810, two years after his father John McFadyen and his brother Alexander arrived from Mull, Argylshire, Scotland. From these two families have sprung the numerous progeny of McFadyens in the vicinity as well as Darrachs, Clyde River; McLeans, Desable, and many others."

Peter McFadyen could be the son of Alexander. His daughter Christy was providing a home to Flora McFadyen in 1881.

The Islander – Nov 9, 1849 Married. On Tuesday the 6th instant, by the Rev. E. Botterell, Mr. Peter McFadyen to Miss Catherine McEachern, both of Elliot River.
