Some of the information on the Dyments in England has been copied from other sources, and has not been rigorously verified. I haven't been able to find a birth record for James or Jacob Deiman, Deyman, etc. in English Births and Christenings or the Cornwall OPC database. The other "Deimans" having children baptized in Kilkhampton around this time were Degori, Bartholomei, and Rici. Brothers of Jacob, perhaps? Unable to find birth/christening records for them either.

In 1557, a Jacobus Deyman married Elizabetha Pruste vidua (widow) in Kilkhampton - he might have been too young to be this James, but in any event, no children until in
February 1588, a Jacobus Deymann married Katherina White.

Most of the Dyment family trees that I have found have "Mell" as the wife of James Deiman, but I haven't been able to find this marriage. In the Cornwall OPC database, there were no marriages even close to the groom's name for variations of Mel/Mell as the bride. There were no Melanies - the name was more likely to be a variation of Melyor or Melsin. One Dyment family tree said that the name of James' mother (Margaret) and wife (Mell) came from his will.
