Sarah's parents were Donald Ramsay and Ann, which could be Donald Ramsay and Ann Simpson, or Donald Ramsay and Ann Fraser, who had a daughter Sarah baptized in 1857. However, according to the obituary of Mrs. Donald Ramsay, Sarah Ramsay Hicks belongs with this branch of the Ramsay family.

Will of Sinclair Wells, hotelkeeper in Summerside, dated 1887, named his wife Sarah, father William, and daughters Gertie and Nellie.

Gertrude A. Wells on her marriage record said her parents were Sinclair Wells and Sarah Ramsay, and Sinclair and Sarah were in the 1881 census with Gertrude. In the next census, Gertrude, age 11 and Nellie, age 9 were lodgers in the household of William and Ellen Kelly in Lot 4. In 1900, Gertrude and Nellie were in Plymouth, Mass, living on a State Farm.

Gertrude married Dr. Butler Metzger, and in 1910, Nellie Wells and Lillian Hicks were lodgers in their household. Lillian was a sister in law of Butler's in the 1920 US census.

In 1900, Sarah and her second husband John W. Hicks were in Plymouth, Mass. with daughters Lillian (7) and Mabel G (6). Sarah claimed to have had 6 children, of whom only 2 were living. Her husband John was a State Farm officer.

In 1920, only Mabel was living with Sarah. This time, Sarah said 6 children, 4 living.

Mabel married in Honolulu, Hawaii, which also suggests a connection to William Arthur Ramsay, who lived there for several years.
