My Family Tree

Sophia Jane, or Jennie Dyment, daughter of Moses and Maria, was born in New Brunswick on 22 December 1861 and living with her family in the 1861and 1881 census. Jennie emigrated to the United States in 1887. Jennie Dimond, daughter of Moses and Maria, married Charles Alexander Day in Massachusetts on 4 Mar 1890. Charles was a blacksmith, born in PEI.

In the 1891 census, Sophia and Alexander, with son Theodore, were living in Lot 13 with her parents. Theodore, one year old at that time, was born in PEI, although later census records say born Massachusetts. Daughter Mary Ethel was born in Canada later that year, and according to a story from the local history magazine Reminiscences, Jennie had gone home for the birth of her second child. Their next child was born in Massachusetts. None of their children were in the PEI Baptismal Index. Records were found for John Lemuel Roland Day and "Ella" Blanche in New Hampshire records on Familyserch.org.

By the 1900 census, Charles Alexander and Jennie were living in New Hampshire with their 5 children. Jennie had had 5 children, all living, by that date. At home with Charles and Jennie were Charles T (10, b. Mass.), Mary E (9, b. Canada), Irene (7, b. Mass), Roland (5, b. NH), and Etta (3, b. NH). This was the same in 1910, except their eldest son's name was given as Theodore, and their eldest daughter as Ethel M. In 1920, Charles and Sophia Jane were living with daughter Irene M. (age 26) and in 1930, with daughter Mabel (age 36). From this and other records, their children were Charles Theodore , Maryl Ethel, Mabel Irene, John Lemuel Roland, and Etta Blanche. The family was farming in Danville, New Hampshire.

Maria Bryant Dyment, Jennie's mother, died in 1917 in Danville, New Hampshire. According to a grandson, she was living with her daughter after the death of her youngest daughter, Jessie, in 1914.

In 1940, Charles A. and wife "Sivarie J" Day were living in Danville New Hampshire with their daughter Mabel (46). Jennie's date of death came from a Day family tree.

History of Wellington, PEI:
Charles Alexander Day was the son of Kerridge and Elizabeth (MacQuarrie) Day, born in Bedeque or Norboro. He married Jennie Day of Mt. Pleasant. He died June 8 1948 in New Hampshire, leaving his wife and several children.
