In the death of Mrs. Jas Horne on June 16th a gloom was cast over Elmsdale of so distressing a nature that all hearts are still sad. Aunt Rachel, as she was so well known by all, was loved by all who knew her. Kind and motherly to everybody, faithful and good she was ever searching for a kind deed to perform. She had gone across the borderland to the grandure of eternity, to be with the lillies of the Lord's choice. No more shall we behold her and ever must our hearts remain half masked in grief. She was 63 years of age and enjoyed good health until a few months prior to her death when she was suddenly overtaken by a fatal malady.
She leaves to mourn three daughters and five sons, namely: Mrs. Fred Rennie and Mrs. David Gordon, Alma; Mrs. Robert Jeffrey, Elmsdale; Will and Hampton, also of Elmsdale; Dan, Fred and McLean of Providence, R. I; also five sisters and four brothers: Mrs. Alexander McArthur, Northam; Mrs. Laughlin McNevin and Mrs. Henry Ritchie, Tyne Valley; Hugh McLean, Searletown; James, Edward, Dan and William McLean, Tyne Valley, to all of whom we extend our sincerest sympathy. Rev. Mr, Christie officiated at the funeral which was one of the largest seen in the district for years, there being 84 autos and 80 wagons following the remains to the last resting place in the cemetery in Elmsdale. Her husband predeceased her eight years ago. the flowers included a pillow from the family at home; spray from Mr. and Mrs. James Mcnevin, Summerside; spray from Miss Horne, teacher and scholars of Rosebank School; wreath and crescent from Dan, Fred, and Mclean Horne, Providence, R. I., flowers Mrs. Henry Williams, Elmsdale. The pall bearers were Messrs. Henry Williams, Fred McAusland, Dan McArthur, and Mclean McNevin.
