My Family Tree

John said he emigrated to the States in 1880 - he may have missed the 1880 US census, as well as the 1881 Canadian census. Although it looks like John didn't know his father's name when he married Lydia, it is possible the clerk made a mistake - both parents were correct on his marriage to Lillian Brown. It was a second marriage for both.

John was a blacksmith and at the time of his death he was the foreman in the Walker body Co. He was survived by a wife and one son, George M. MacDougall and one sister, Mrs Samuel Beairsto and four brothers. Newburyport Daily News and Newburyport Herald
