Although Peter McDougall and his wife Marion had more than one son, Duncan was the only son named in Peter's will. No other relationships have been proven.

This is the branch of Peter McDougall's tree that has the fewest names in common with the families of the men proposed as the other sons of Peter and Marion. No son named Peter, or daughter Marion. However, there were two men named Peter McDougall born on the Island who went to New Brunswick. One was the Peter McDougall who married Elizabeth Vye and lived in New Brunswick; the other Peter, born about 1790, married Catherine.

The History of Malpeque says that John's wife was Ann McLean, another source suggests Ann Campbell. There was a large Campbell farm next to that of John McDougall, and John purchased some of the Campbell estate in an auction, but Campbell wills make no mention of a daughter Ann. No marriage record was found in the License Cash Books covering 1787-1805.

There were two properties under the name of John McDougall on a map of Lot 16 dated 1851.

Children for this couple could include:
Allan, Janet, Elizabeth, Margaret (1810-1880), Catherine (1813-1878), and John (1813-1883) , and perhaps Peter (in New Brunswick) and Alexander.
