Note

Although Mary Matilda gave various answers on census records for her date of birth, the daughter of John Moore from Pownal was born in 1848, which fits with her needing her father's permission to be married.

Married.
On the 18th October ult., at the residence of the bride’s father, Egmont Bay, Lot 13, by the Rev. H.B. Swabey, Mr. Thomas Dyment, to Matilda, sixth daughter of Mr. John Moore, formerly of Lot 49.

Mary Matilda was Matilda in the 1900 US census, but her obituary said Mary. Some of her children gave her name as Mary on official documents. It is possible that she used Mary to distinguish herself from Henry Dyment's wife, another Matilda - the families must have known each other. Mary Matilda's daughter Alice was a witness at the wedding of Henry and Matilda's daughter Minnie in 1903.
